Movement emerges: after Burgener’s withdrawal from the board, “Yystoo” protesters seek replacement – Basel Stadt – Basel – bz

With him, Roland Heri, Marco Streller and Peter von Büren also leave the committee, which has a more representative character. All four simply step down from the club’s executive board, which has a 25 percent stake in FC Basel 1893 AG. The remaining 75 per cent belongs to FC Basel Holding AG, whose majority shareholder remains Burgener. However: FCB fans who had formed the “Yystoo for FCB” protest movement in recent weeks see the announcement as a “stage victory”, as David Frey puts it. The situation has been completely new since Tuesday.

It’s too early to talk about names

Discussions among protesters about how they can influence the association in the future did not just start from the announcement. The initiators of “Yystoo” reportedly want to submit a ticket with their own candidates to the board no later than next week, it is said.
Officially, Frey doesn’t want to comment on this. All it says is, “We have potential candidates for the vacant positions on the board that we will bring to the application process.” It’s too early to talk about names.

This has to do with the fact that it is not even entirely clear how many “Yystoo” candidates he wants to present. Finally, with Dominik Donzé, Benno Kaiser and Reto Baumgartner, three former members are running for re-election. “Yystoo” is said to be engaging in a dialogue with these three men as well. There is a chance that one of this trio could run for the presidium.

The fan base should be represented as broadly as possible on the board.

About six weeks before the decisive general assembly, some things are still unclear. If the protesters are successful there, and this is currently assumed, the corps will be more diverse. “Yystoo” is about “ensuring that the fan base is represented as broadly as possible on the board,” Frey says, specifically targeting women, among other things. So far there have only been men on the board.
One the office might well imagine is called Jo Vergeat. The Green Councilor says, “Yes, I can basically imagine that.” Vergeat recently became a member of the FCB and belongs to the extended circle of the “Yystoo” movement, as she puts it.

It would not be a surprise if other candidates recommended themselves for a position as a member of the FCB board among them: in addition to David Frey, Patrick Fassbind and Tobias Adler in particular have been exposed to the movement in recent days. They represent different fans from different sectors of the Joggeli.

Muttenzerkurve’s commitment

Adler’s engagement is particularly notable because a representative from Muttenzerkurve is introduced to the public with him. Even if the whole procedure is special: it is a great novelty that the fan curve is treading such an institutional path and, as can be heard from the protest movement, wants to continue to be involved.

As protesters search for suitable personnel, it is not yet clear how the elections will be carried out. “The FCB board of directors will send the club members the specific details of the application modalities and election procedure along with the invitation documents to the 126th Annual General Assembly,” said the FCB upon request. And: “Everything else will follow later.” Everything changes.
