Aldi Switzerland gets Doubt chips out the back door

Aldi and Lidl have boycotted Doubt Chips so far. The two discount stores have tried everything in Switzerland. Vain. Now Aldi has found a way to put the chips on the shelf, through an outside company.

Brand-name products and discount stores were often discarded. This is still the case for Doubt Chips today. Or better: that’s how it has been until today. The proud Swiss potato chip maker flatly refuses to supply the two retailers Aldi and Lidl.

Aldi has now found a channel to get the chips and put them on the shelf. The discount store bypasses the official supply chain, as “Blick” writes. A solution was then found with a long-standing Swiss partner to include Doubt chips in the eastern Swiss range as a first step, says Aldi spokesman Thomas Liechti. From October 5 they will be there on the shelves. And: “We continue in the conversation with doubts, because we want to offer the chips throughout the country.”

Lidl remains confident in the negotiations: “We have a business association with the company, even if we do not have the Zweifel chips in our range,” says a spokeswoman. And: “We offer our customers a wide range of own-brand products for chips and snacks.”
