Blessing for the Berlingen TG community! A resident donated one million francs to rehabilitate the water pipes in the village of 890 inhabitants.
Like the «St. Galler Tagblatt »informs that the amount is explicitly linked to this purpose. Because in the community there are always problems with the water pipes. “There are a lot of breaks,” Mayor Ueli Oswald tells VIEW.
“He is not personally affected”
He is even more satisfied with the generous donation. “No one has ever donated so much money to the community. That was a one-time thing. We gratefully accept the amount. “
Oswald wants to keep the identity of the donor a secret. Just this: “He is not personally affected by the dashed lines. The topic came up at the community meeting. We have many committed citizens. I guess that’s how he found out about the problem. I met with the donor and thanked him personally. “
Rates rise less drastically
The money will now go to a program in which the goal is not just to rehabilitate lines in case of breaks, but to install new lines every 50 to 100 meters. “This costs a lot of money and that is why the municipality has to adjust the rates. Thanks to the donation, now these will increase less ”, says Oswald.
The million will be distributed among various projects. Among other things, the lake and mountain roads need to be renovated. The costs of this sum are well over 1.7 million francs. (man)
