- Henri Laaksonen (ATP 135) fails in the 1st round of the French Open.
- The Swiss loses to the Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas (ATP 60) with 1: 6, 6: 2, 4: 6, 2: 6.
- Make a total of 59 unforced errors.
Henri Laaksonen completely missed the start of the game. After just 10 minutes, the Swiss was 3-0 down. At 25 minutes, the Uruguayan favorite Pablo Cuevas had the first lap in his pocket.
In the second set, the Schaffhausen revolt followed: he made his first break to 2-0 and won the set 6-2. After that, Laaksonen’s risky and therefore flawed game was rarely mixed with bright spots.
Wawrinka, the last Swiss trump card
In both the third and fourth sets, Laaksonen received an early break. After 2:20 hours and a total of 59 unforced errors (with 36 winners) the number 135 was sealed out of the world. Para Cuevas continues in the next round against game winner Jaume Munar – Stefanos Tsitsipas.
After the early losses of Laaksonen, Stefanie Vögele and Jil Teichmann, Switzerland is only represented in the second round with Stan Wawrinka at the French Open.
