It has been almost a year since the Austrian group XXX Lutz announced the acquisition of Möbel Pfister AG. On Tuesday, the new owners announced the first steps on how they want to further develop Pfister. The previous ranges are complemented by a more economical one, a kind of “cheap” furniture. Pfister also enters the kitchen business. And in autumn 2021, the group will have an additional large branch: in Affoltern am Albis ZH, where XXX Lutz (formerly Rothrist) had the intention of opening its second store in Switzerland, before buying Pfister. It was not announced on Monday when the parent company in Suhr will receive the new store concept.

Paul Holaschke, CEO of Möbel Pfister AG, puts it this way: “With Pfister we are pursuing a clear growth strategy that includes consistent investments in new and existing locations, as well as e-commerce.” In addition to the opening of the new branch and the entry into the kitchen segment, the range will be significantly expanded at the same time and “additional new brands at attractive prices” will be introduced.

Pratteln and Mels will be the first to receive a cooking studio.

“As part of the XXX Lutz Group, we benefit from the size of its global market when it comes to purchasing. We pass on these price advantages to our customers, ”says Holaschke. The new store concept will be implemented first at Pratteln BL and Mels SG. The new opening is in early December. At the same time, Pfister entered the kitchen market. The “Pfister kitchen studios” will be 600 square meters (Pratteln) and 350 square meters (Mels). The offer includes advice from Pfister specialists, a measurement and delivery service for the kitchen and household appliances. “Pfister works with a variety of well-known brands in this segment,” said a press release.

In the future there will be a “Pfister pickle”

CEO Holaschke explains: “We will gradually expand our ‘Pfister kitchen studios’ and thus play a central role in the Swiss kitchen market.”

The expansion strategy includes the opening of a branch number 21. A large furniture store (13,000 square meters, three floors) is being built in Affoltern am Albis. It will have a “gastronomic concept independent of Pfister” (press release), that is, what XXX Lutz also has in its large establishments.

Holaschke says of the offensive: “Pfister should be the first choice for people in Switzerland who need furniture. With an additional cheaper offer, complementing our usual range, and clearly qualified price categories, we will attract an even broader and younger target group. ”
