(rapid eye movement) Carbonell completed his youth at FC Barcelona before signing for Valencia CF after his stints at FC Reus Deportiu and FC Córdoba. Last season, the defensive midfielder was loaned to Fortuna Sittard from the Dutch Eredivisie. Carbonell is now moving to central Switzerland with a contract until June 30, 2022 and will strengthen Fabio Celestini’s team, as announced by FC Luzern.

Carbonell is still in quarantine

Due to official requirements, Àlex Carbonell will spend the next six days in quarantine at home and then he will start training with Fabio Celestini’s team. He can debut at the earliest in the home game against FC St. Gallen (18 October).

“Àlex Carbonell feels at home in the central defensive midfield and has good intelligence and playing technique,” said FCL sports director Remo Meyer. Meyer: “We are confident that he will develop further with us and that he can mature into an important player for the team.”
