Google is the most attractive employer in Switzerland. So the American tech company is also a role model for other companies. Relaxation rooms, game consoles, pets or free food: these are just some of the offers that employees appreciate.
With Corona, Google’s world of work should now be permanently redesigned. No more open-plan office and permanent workplaces. Google boss Sundar Pichai announced changes in an interview with Time magazine.
Not just home work
Consequently, the home office must remain. Permanent. A trend that many employees also appreciate in Switzerland. According to Pichai, face-to-face meetings should not be neglected. Direct exchange is still important. A hybrid solution should be found. Instead of the usual workplaces that were occupied every day before Corona, so-called “on site” will be created where employees can meet.
“In the future it will definitely be more flexible,” Pichai says in an interview. But the future cannot be designed 100 percent remotely. “We firmly believe that face-to-face meetings, togetherness and community will continue to be very important when it comes to solving problems or developing new things,” Pichai said.
Google is considered a role model
Google was one of the first big tech companies to allow employees to work from home thanks to Corona. Almost everyone followed suit. And this way of working has proven its worth for many. Meanwhile, Facebook and many other companies are also reconsidering their employment policy.
Google employees welcome their boss’s new direction. Internally, 62 percent of employees declaredthat a few days a month in the office are enough to work satisfactorily. 20 percent even think they no longer have to go to the office.
