The former St. Gallen city council in its entirety is re-elected, as the city reports. Markus Buschor (independent), Peter Jans (SP), Sonja Lüthi (GLP) and Maria Pappa (SP) easily achieved an absolute majority. None of the other candidates made it to city hall on the first try. A second vote is required for the remaining seat.

In Wil, the former city president, Susanne Hartmann (CVP), was elected to the government of St. Gallen in the spring. The mayor of Eschlikon TG, Hans Mäder (CVP) and the two former councilors Daniel Meili of the FDP and Dario Sulzer of the SP are standing for election as successors. Neither candidate achieved an absolute majority on the first ballot.

Ten people stood in the elections for the city council. Because the votes were widely distributed, no one achieved an absolute majority. The second ballot is on November 29.

Rapperswil-Jona’s site administrator voted out of office

In the battle for the construction supervisor’s site in Rapperswil-Jona, challenger Christian Leutenegger (independent) wins the race. With 5,349 votes, he clearly defeated the previous Thomas Furrer (non-party), who received 3,467 votes.

The mayor of Rapperswil-Jona, Martin Stöckling (FDP), was re-elected without competition. Ueli Dobler (CVP, formerly), Tanja Zschokke (GP, formerly), Boris Meier (GLP), Kurt Kälin (SVP, formerly) and Luca Eberle (SP, formerly) were also elected or confirmed for the council.

Fight the elections for the Gossau school board

Stefan Rindlisbacher won the elections for the Gossau school board. He beat his competitor Ruth Lehner. The city president, Wolfgang Giella, and the other former councilors were confirmed in office.

Ebnat-Kappel: The Mayor of Samedan (GR) moves to Ebnat-Kappel. Jon Fadri Huder of the FDP received 1,200 votes, far behind his opponent Christian Schmid (also FDP).

Wartau: Andreas Bernold (FDP) succeeds Beat Tinner (FDP), who was elected to the government in the spring.

Häggenschwil: Raffael Gemperle has been elected successor to Mayor Hans-Peter Eisenring in Häggenschwil. He was previously vice president of the municipal council.

Degersheim: The former mayor Monika Scherrer (CVP) can prevail against her competitor Daniela Grob Braun (independent). Monika Scherrer is re-elected with around three times the number of votes.

Rüthi: Irene Schocher (FDP) is the new mayor of Rüthi. She prevailed against two competitors in the race for the seat of the resigned Philipp Scheuble.

Sevelen: The new mayor of Sevelen is named Eduard Neuhaus. He succeeds Roland Ledergerber.
