What a gala performance! Wawrinka only surrenders six games against Murray
Stan Wawrinka overpowers the supposedly high opening hurdle at the French Open with ease. The Lausanne man wins the duel between the three-time Grand Slam winners against Andy Murray at a rapid pace of 6: 1, 6: 3, 6: 2.
In “choc du jour”, the game of the day, the first games dragged on. Then Wawrinka quickly marched into the second round. The three sets lasted a little over half an hour, the match a total of 1:37 hours.
In cold weather, wind and weather, Wawrinka, usually a slow start, played formidably on Philippe Chatrier’s nearly empty court. Resistance was also limited. In several situations, Murray revealed that he is no longer the same running with the artificial hip that was used in the spring.
Wawrinka’s next opponent is German Dominik Köpfer (ATP 66). Wawrinka has never dueled the 26-year-old, who lives in Florida, and was only stopped in straight sets by Novak Djokovic after qualifying in Rome. In the first round, Köpfer beat Frenchman Antoine Hoang in four sets.
Teichmann already out
Jil Teichmann is eliminated in the first round of the French Open. The 23-year-old Swiss loses to Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu (WTA 72) in dire conditions 4: 6, 6: 4, 3: 6. With drizzle, wind and temperatures around 10 degrees, Teichmann had a hard time against the 30-year-old Romanian sand specialist on one of the open-air slopes for practically two and a half hours.

In the first set he traded a 1: 4, which he resolved again, only to later deliver the set with a slight error. She conceded the decisive two-breaker in the third set to make it 3: 4. She won the second round mainly thanks to better efficiency after initially giving up a 3-0, 5-3 lead.
Stefanie Vögele is the only Swiss woman who remains in the field of women. Aargauerin denies her first round match against Romanian Patricia Maria Tig (WTA 58) this Monday. (pre / sda)
