According to the Basel police, the 53-year-old motorist drove down the Baselstrasse towards Zwingen shortly after 10:00 am At the long left-hand bend immediately after the junction in the direction of Nenzlingen, he continued straight for reasons that were not yet explained and hit a wall.
As a result of the collision, the car rolled over and stopped after about 50 meters, thrown on the roof. The injured driver was flown to the hospital by helicopter from Alpine Air Ambulance after initial treatment by paramedics. The car was wrecked.
