The robbery took place on Saturday around 11:30 pm near the SBB train station. According to previous investigations by the criminal police of the Public Ministry, the 21-year-old had traveled by train to Basel with an acquaintance. The two people who were unaware of the area were in a green area, possibly the Elisabethenanlage, near the train station, according to a corresponding message.

Wounded with a stabbing weapon

While the friend was leaving the park for a while, two strangers approached the 21-year-old and asked for cigarettes. Suddenly, one of the strangers grabbed him by the neck and ripped off his necklace. The victim resisted and was slightly injured with a stab weapon. He had to be taken to the emergency station by the Basel-Stadt ambulance.

The perpetrators fled in an unknown direction. An immediate manhunt was unsuccessful. The Basel-Stadt prosecutor’s office is now looking for two men between 25 and 30 years old with slim stature and an Afghan dialect. They were both about 180 centimeters tall.

Two similar incidents had already occurred in Basel on the night of September 19 and the afternoon of September 19. It is not yet clear if there is a connection.
