Annabel Sen’s life literally changed in one go: The 24-year-old was on her way to lunch with her boyfriend in New York on January 25 when she was struck by a heavy wooden armchair.

The furniture fell from the terrace on the 12th floor of a residential building. This stems from a lawsuit filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court, reports the New York Post.

The young woman suffered a life-threatening brain trauma, among other injuries, and had to undergo emergency surgery.

Since then, Sen has had two more brain operations. “That the couch didn’t kill you is honestly a miracle,” Sens attorney Benedict Morelli said of the newspaper.

Sen can no longer work

Sen previously worked in the financial industry and was planning to do his master’s degree at Harvard University this fall. But everything has changed: «He no longer does anything. You just go to the doctor and recover. She has cognitive deficiencies, ”said the lawyer. The costs of her treatment, which she must pay herself, are also a burden.

Sen is now suing the owner of the attic. “Hopefully I can get back enough to lead a productive life in the future,” Morelli says.

Owners and management declined to comment on the “New York Post.”
