Federal MPs from eastern Switzerland have different views on the illegal weather demonstration on the Bundesplatz over the past two days. The commoners are upset that the city did not intervene earlier. The SP and the Greens defend both the authority and the activists.
The climate protest in front of the parliament building ended: the police cleared the square early Wednesday morning. As far as is known, no one was injured. The tents and structures of the climate movement are rapidly retreating. Inside the Federal Palace, however, discussions about the illegal action continue. Many commoners are still angry. Parliamentarians from eastern Switzerland are also harshly criticizing: “The fact that the city of Berne tolerates an unauthorized demonstration on the Bundesplatz for two days is unacceptable, as a ban on demonstrations during the federal session has been in force during federal session since 1925, “says National Councilor Mike Egger (SVP / SG). The SVP attempted to obtain permission for a rally during the session and received a rejection. The city, however, tolerated the climatic manifestation.
