Just one day after the end of the 107th Tour de France, the Marseille prosecutor’s office launched preliminary investigations against a suspected doping team.

The Marseille prosecutor confirmed to the French news agency AFP on Monday that a preliminary investigation had been launched on suspicion of doping. Therefore, two people “in the vicinity of the driver” are already in police custody; the names are not yet known. According to media reports, it is said to be the French team Arkéa-Samsic around captain Nairo Quintana.

As the prosecutor Dominique Laurens says, “many medical devices and drugs” were found during the search of hotel rooms last Wednesday night, including “a method that can be described as doping.”

Despite a crash in training, Quintana was one of the favorites in the 107th Tour de France. The Colombian, who finished the tour on the podium three times between 2013 and 2016, finished the most important cycling race in the world more than an hour behind Slovenian winner Tadej Pogacar, but only in 17th place.

Pogacar wins the Tour de France

Tadej Pogacar’s triumph in the Tour de France is perfect. As expected, the Slovenian, who will turn 22 on Monday, will make it through the last stage of the Champs Elysees to Paris without any problems.
