Over the weekend, almost 700 people held a boat party on Lake Constance. Actually, wearing a mask was mandatory, but the guests bravely threw it overboard.
The party got off on Sunday on the Euregia ship. From the port of Romanshorn TG, the ship sailed across Lake Constance with various DJs, electronic music and almost 700 people. For parties of this type, the organizer must present a concept of protection that can be verified by the Health Office. The organizer announced a mask requirement for the party because the minimum distance between the visitors could not be observed.
700 people shoulder to shoulder
That didn’t seem to impress the crowd at the party. He cheerfully celebrated with loud music: shoulder to shoulder, most without a mask. Countless videos and photos on social media testify to the violation of the rules. The organizer felt he had been caught and took the corresponding evidence videos from the internet after the weekend.
Another problem: music could be heard on the other shore, so the German water police moved. “A Covid protection concept was implemented, apparently the mask requirement was not always met,” says Andy Theler, media spokesman for Thurgau cantonal police. Later, the police informed the responsible health office.
The Thurgau Canton Health Office confirms that a mask was required for the party. “Several people informed us today that this was not being observed,” media spokeswoman Miriam Hetzel told BLICK.
The organizer does not see any violation of the rules
“The implementation of the protection concept is up to the organizer,” says Miriam Hetzel. If the concepts are not fulfilled, the event would be prohibited or canceled. In the case of the boat party on Lake Constance, the authorities are still clarifying whether and what measures will be imposed.
The organizer himself is not impressed by the accusations. “Before and during the event, the visitors were informed about the mask protection requirement and the other hygiene measures,” the organizer told BLICK. In addition, visitors would have had to register electronically. “This means that all legal aspects have been met.” The organizer is silent on the specific allegation that the mask requirement was not met.
