Basel stumble at home to Vaduz – Lausanne wins Léman derby against Servette

Basel – Vaduz 2: 2

FC Basel and coach Ciriaco Sforza experienced disappointment at the start of the season. FCB came home to the newly promoted Vaduz just 2-2.

Moldovan Nicolae Milinceanu led a Boris Prokopic header into goal after Milan Gajic’s corner to 2-2 in the 78th minute and rewarded the guests for a good performance on their return to the Super League after three years of absence.

Less than 72 hours after winning the Europa League qualification in Osijek, Basel failed to convince. Cabral (with the heel) and Valentin Stocker, who had already met on Thursday, brought the home team twice before half-time after the preparatory work of Afimico Pululu, but otherwise little came out together. “We lacked the quality to decide the game early,” Stocker said in an interview with “Teleclub.”

Nikolics Nächster Child

FCB goalkeeper Djordje Nikolic played an important role in Basel’s false start. A serious mistake by the 23-year-old Serbian after half an hour made it possible for the guests to score 1: 1. A bad pass from the goalkeeper landed at the feet of Milinceanu, who served the scorer Manuel Sutter. It was not the first serious mistake made by Jonas Omlin’s successor. Nikolic made serious mistakes in the Europa League quarter-finals against Shakhtar Donetsk and in the cup final against YB.

Just when Geneva had caught a bit in the second half, veteran Christian Schneuwly made the decisive 2-0 with a wonderfully crooked free kick in the 58th minute. In the last 15 minutes, however, the Lausanne team came under a lot of pressure and had to give their opponents the best possible chances. But they only had to accept the connecting gate with a hand penalty from Grejohn Kyei.

From the first minute, the Lausanne team knew how to cope with the demands of the higher league. The Lausanne team, but especially their scorer Aldin Turkes, with 22 goals the best scorer of the last season in the Challenge League. He capped off the Vaudois’ impeccable performance in the first half hour with a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. Turkes completed excellent preparatory work from Serbian defensive player Nikola Boranijasevic from five meters.

Geneva, who started the season 1-1 in Bern against Young Boys a year ago after their promotion, needed the entire first half to find good and specific actions. So Timothé Cognat had the first very good opportunity for coach Alain Geiger’s team immediately after the break in a favorable position.

It was an arduous and lasting success at first for eastern Switzerland against a Zion that had been decimated after Ayoub Abdellaoui was ousted. The defender had applied the emergency brake in the 58th minute against Basil Stillhart. But with ten men, the Valais fought respectable and even in stoppage time through Ndoye and Khasa they had real equal opportunities.

After the departure of regulars Itten, Demirovic and Hefti, St. Gallen could not hide the fact that automatisms, game understanding and efficiency are (still) lacking. “It is important to have a three at the beginning. We had a lot of chances and we should have decided the game earlier. We are still far from what we can do, ”said St. Gallen veteran Lukas Görtler.

Sion brought a tough note to the game, was well organized, challenging and displayed good playful approaches. If the newly signed Hoarau and Tosetti remain integrated into this team, new manager Fabio Grosso can achieve something if given time.

Climate activists occupy Bundesplatz ++ City does not want to evacuate protest camp for now

In the early hours of the morning, hundreds of people with bags and backpacks flocked to the Bundesplatz. Now they are setting up an illegal tent camp to protest against the current climate policy. Eviction is not yet an option for the mayor of Bern.

Ready, set, set: At 4.40 am, around 200 activists arrived at the Bundesplatz from all sides. The climate movement follows a confrontational course.

“We want climate justice, now,” they chant. They then lie on a human chain with their sleeping bags and backpacks and occupy the political center of Switzerland.
