Tragic accident in the local mountain of Lucerne: Sunday at noon at 12:30 pm, Rega went to Pilatus and found a man fallen on inaccessible terrain. He is a German tourist († 58).
The accident occurred on the Drachenweg, a 40-minute ride that is also intended for children. The man is apparently on the road with his daughter when his cell phone somehow overcomes the barrier. He stays near the abyss.
The man makes a fatal decision: according to reporter readers, he climbs on the railing to take the cell phone and falls and dies. A spokesman for the Nidwalden cantonal police confirmed to VIEW: “She probably wanted to get her daughter’s cell phone.”
The rescuers could no longer do anything
A reporter from reader BLICK recorded the helicopter mission on video. “First the helicopter flew there, let a mountain rescue and a medic out, and flew again,” says the reader reporter. Apparently, nothing more could be done for the fallen man. Then the helicopter returned. “They put the man in a black jacket,” says the reporter, concerned.
The Nidwalden prosecutor’s office is now working with the Nidwalden canton police to determine the exact course of the accident. The investigation continues. (hac)
