On Saturday, a driver deliberately struck and injured a man in a parking lot at Stein AG.
The incident was preceded by a dispute between the two men, as the Aargau canton police announced on Sunday. The exact circumstances are unclear.
The incident took place in the parking lot of a food stand along the main road in front of the Novartis company. A passerby came across an injured man there at 6.30pm and called the police. An ambulance took the 56-year-old German to the hospital. The man suffered a concussion, a broken nose, and several abrasions and bruises.
The injuries have been shown to have been the result of a collision with a car, police write. The driver was no longer there, but was found that night and provisionally arrested. The prosecution opened an investigation against the 50-year-old man from Aargau.
According to initial findings, a dispute broke out between the unknown persons in front of the German customs office at the Stein-Säckingen border crossing. It is said that one punched the other. They then met again at the food stand, which resulted in a collision. The exact circumstances are not yet clear, the police are looking for witnesses.
