Oberaargauer falls in the 2nd GP of Emilia-Romagna and loses the leadership of the World Cup.
Everything looked so good for Dominique Aegerter: after Saturday’s victory, the Swiss was able to tackle Sunday’s second MotoE race from pole position and defended the lead in the first corners.
But then he was overtaken by his fiercest rival in the overall standings, Italian Matteo Ferrari, and got into battles for positions.
Failure without guilt
At the beginning of the 2nd round, Tommaso Marcon (ITA), who was in 4th position, tried to regain two places. He hit Aegerter on the rear wheel and they both landed on the gravel bed.
Aegerter resumed the race but did not pass 16th place. Ferrari took their lead home with confidence and overtook Aegerter in World Cup qualifying.
Showdown at Le Mans
The Italian is 4 points ahead of the Swiss two races before the end of the season. Jordi Torres (ESP) lurks 3 more points behind. The last two races in the electric bike category are on October 10 and 11 at Le Mans.
