In Solothurn, all hell breaks loose during Carnival with parades, big events and a colorful and colorful street carnival. Unfortunately, not in 2021. “The hearts of the carnival in Solothurn are also bleeding and it hits us hard,” the United Carnival Society of Solothurn announced to the UN.
After “intense discussions”, the working group, made up of representatives of the six main guilds, GUSO Musignarr and GUSO Vice-Musignarr, as well as the UN commissioner, had to decide on the official events of the United Carnival Society Solothurn because of Corona. UN to cancel. This includes parades on Shrove Sunday and Shrove Tuesday, as well as the Guggenmusiken GUSO Soledurn events. Many Guggenmusiken would not even want to perform under these circumstances, says Ober Ober Patrick Zimmermann.
The working group has also decided to waive all major events that are the responsibility of the UN and GUSO Soledurn. These are specifically the following occasions:
- Guggete monster
- 12iChlapf
- Tattoo
- Carnival afternoons on Sundays and Tuesdays at the city theater
- DrummGugguLalaPfiff (internal carnival event)
The UN wants to prevent people from gathering in the streets on Carnival Friday and Saturday. That is why she also mentions these days among the canceled events.
For all other Solothurn events, organizers have a duty and responsibility to analyze feasibility possibilities based on the authorities’ Covid19 requirements and decide on cancellations or alternatives. This includes, for example, carnival balls.
What happens to chess is still unclear. That is not the responsibility of the UN.
Unanimous decision
“The members of the working group very much regret this step,” says the UN. In view of the “current spread of the coronavirus and as a security measure to protect all carnival enthusiasts,” the decision was made unanimously. “Of course the heart is crying,” says Patrick Zimmermann. “But the head says: No, it just doesn’t work now.”
Try to be realistic, accept everything, and focus on concrete solutions and ideas. “We are motivated to do something else.”
Solidarity plate as support
You shouldn’t have to do without Carnival 2021 entirely. “The task force is still looking for opportunities,” the UN writes. She will inform you about this in due course. “Canceling the carnival completely was never a problem,” says the waiter. “We want to give the clubs the assurance that they can still do something, even if it is different.”
Furthermore, it is already clear that the coveted and numbered Solothurn 11erli will be released as a special edition.
The issuance of a solidarity badge or a support contribution is the subject of work in the working group. This in order to be able to financially support the groups in these difficult times. This badge must not be available in different colors or in large quantities. “It should be something special,” says Zimmermann.
Covid19 has not been able to displace the motto “a la bonöör” in 2021: it will live and be adopted in 2022. (mgt)
