The Swiss Covid app should become more interactive and therefore more attractive. Mathias Wellig, managing director of the application development company Ubique Innovation, announced this to the media in Bern on Thursday.
So far the app has been running mostly in the background, but for some users that’s not enough. Therefore, the application will offer more information (number of users or Covid codes entered in total) in the future. It will also be possible to draw the attention of other people to the application directly from the application. The Swiss Covid app update should be available starting next week.
Installation resource
Sang-Il Kim, head of the digital transformation department at the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH), again asked for the app to be installed.
Currently, the number of cases is increasing. Containment measures must be intensified. And that’s where the app can help. Therefore, BAG recommends installing and activating the application now and not later, when the number of cases continued to increase.
Regarding BAG’s contact tracing database, Kim said it started this week. Work on the federal side has been completed and now it is the cantons’ turn to provide the relevant data. Three would already do this, and by mid-October this should be the case for everyone using the database-compatible Sormas system.
According to Kim, eight cantons are already using the Live Sormas system, and in the end there will be 16. Two other cantons would consider switching to the same system.
It is the sovereignty of the cantons to send this data to the federal government. The new computerized contract tracking systems are important for the cantons, as they facilitate the processing of a greater number of cases, more quickly and efficiently.
