The operators of the Blausee fish farm in the Bernese Oberland are making violent accusations against the companies that are renovating the Lötschberg summit tunnel and the authorities involved. Carcinogenic toxins leaked into groundwater due to illegal activities.
One of Blausee’s owners, Stefan Linder, said at a press conference in Bern on Thursday that measurements at the gravel plant near Blausee had exceeded the limit value for so-called PAHs 424,000 times.
PAHs are polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Some of them are carcinogenic. Linder, founder of the Swiss Economic Forum, showed media representatives a list of other results of water samples taken from the gravel pit. Other high limit values are exceeded.
Linder said the damage caused by the death of tens of thousands of fish amounts to two million francs. It is clear that a claim for damages is being prepared. But first you have to determine who pollutes. (aeg / sda)
