At the beginning of commercial test drives in the new Ceneri base tunnel, the second train got stuck in the new structure on Monday. SBB evacuated about 150 passengers on a special train from the tunnel.

The reason for the breakdown was a technical malfunction on the Eurocity train, SBB said on its website.

According to the information, the passage of the tunnel of the first train, which left Chiasso at 6:04 am to the north, passed without any problem. The second train, which left Zurich at 7:10 am bound for Milan, got stuck. The technical problem occurred independently of the tunnel, SBB wrote.
