Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who became an enemy of conspiracy theorists not only during the crown pandemic, is deeply concerned about the spread of misinformation and lies on the Internet. “These crazy ideas are spreading faster on social media than the truth. I’m amazed that my name appears in these conspiracy theories, “Gates said Monday on” Bild Live. ”

Along with his wife Melinda, Gates has been campaigning for years with a foundation in the fight against diseases around the world, also in the corona pandemic. Lately, numerous conspiracy theories and misinformation had spread about him. Consequently, Gates himself is behind the spread of the coronavirus and wants people to be microchipped to monitor all of humanity and further enrich themselves through the pandemic. “I think it’s a bit ironic that he warned that he had to be prepared for this pandemic, and now there are people who say that I am responsible for it.”

Setback for poverty reduction

According to Gates, the corona pandemic has undermined many advances made in recent years in the fight against poverty and disease. “The pandemic has slowed progress and set us back,” the 64-year-old said at a telephone press conference on the occasion of the publication of the “Porteros” report. Released annually since 2017, the report takes stock of global progress to date in fighting poverty and disease and predicts how things could continue.

According to the report, the number of people living in extreme poverty has increased by seven percent since the start of the pandemic. Global vaccination coverage for people has returned to the level of the 1990s and thus “set the world back 25 years in 25 weeks”. In addition, the economic consequences of the pandemic increased existing inequalities, as women and minorities, as well as people living in conditions of extreme poverty, are much more affected.

Therefore, the world must work together to combat the pandemic and its effects, especially through the development of treatment methods and vaccines, demand Bill and his wife Melinda Gates in the report. “This is a common global crisis that demands a common global response.”

Vaccine scheduled for next year

The Microsoft founder expects several vaccines against the novel coronavirus to be available early next year. Hopefully three or even four vaccines will be approved in the first quarter, Gates told the Internet show “Bild live.”

The challenge then would be to mass produce the funds, emphasized the American billionaire, whose foundation promotes the development and distribution of vaccines. For corona vaccines to be available to seven billion people worldwide, it would take almost 14 billion doses: “That has never been done before.” It is an emergency measure that requires completely new strategies.

Gates said in an interview that he is promoting vaccines to save lives. He is proud that “tens of millions of people have been saved thanks to the new vaccination efforts in which we are involved.”

Addressing conspiracy theorists, he said: “We are in the middle of a pandemic, and it is more important than ever to face the facts and the truth.”
