Moto2: Lüthi in sixth place thanks to a good start

After the 3 week break from racing, Tom Lüthi picked up where he had left off before. After finishing seventh and fifth in Austria, he finished sixth in Misano. The Emmentaler had a good start to the race and immediately went from tenth to sixth place. Meanwhile, he fought for fifth place with his teammate Marcel Schrötter, but then had to break loose again.

Italy celebrated a triple victory in their home race. World Cup leader Luca Marini won ahead of Marco Bezzecchi and Enea Bastianini. The Italians benefited from the fact that two strong opponents could not be there: Jorge Martín (Corona test positive) and Remy Gardner (fall during the morning warm-up with broken bones).

Even the true creator of pole, Sam Lowes, couldn’t compete for the top positions. The Briton had to start from the pit lane because he had caused a collision at Spielberg. After a strong run to catch up, he was eighth.

The second Swiss, Jesko Raffin, played his first race after a prolonged viral illness. However, he had to abandon the race after 16 of 25 laps.

MotoGP: Rossi loses the 200th podium

The Italians also celebrated in the premier class. Franco Morbidelli raced to the front immediately after the start and took his first MotoGP victory. He clearly distanced himself from his compatriot Francesco Bagnaia, who only broke his leg 5 weeks ago in the Czech Republic.

Former champion Valentino Rossi, however, narrowly missed his 200th podium in the premier class at his home track. The 41-year-old was in second place for a long time before being kicked off the podium. On the last lap of the race, Joan Mir pushed him out of third place.

World Cup leader Fabio Quartararo experienced even greater disappointment. The Frenchman crashed twice and eventually dropped out of the race. The new leader of the world championship is Andrea Dovizioso, although he only finished seventh.

Moto3: McPhee from 17th place to victory

In Moto3, Swiss Jason Dupasquier (KTM) finished 19th in the top 20 for the second time in his career. The 18-year-old Freiburg is still waiting for his first World Championship point.

British driver John McPhee, who started from 17th, won the race. The Honda rider won by just 0.037 seconds over his Japanese brand colleague Ai Ogura. The leader of the Spanish World Championship, Albert Arenas (KTM), crashed shortly before the end of the race and ran out of points.

So it goes

The motorcycle convoy remains in Misano for another week, where they will circulate again next weekend. Then it goes to Catalonia.
