  • For years, VAT has been illegally applied to radio and television reception rates. Now households will receive a one-time flat fee of 50 francs.
  • Parliament agrees with this solution proposed by the Federal Council.
  • After the Council of States, the National Council also approved the corresponding federal law on Thursday.

The decision was taken unanimously with two abstentions. The proposal is now ready for the final vote.

The Commission agreed with the Bundesrat and the Council of States that a flat rate could avoid disproportionate administrative costs. Additionally, taxpayers would be relieved as they would no longer have to submit individual applications.

A claim also for companies

The Council of States had introduced a provision according to which companies can also claim a flat fee. The National Council also approved this addition. Consequently, companies are entitled to recovery if they have paid commercial or commercial reception fees and have not made any deduction of input tax.
