SBB improves customer information at the train station
SBB is improving customer information at the train station: by the end of 2022, new displays will be installed at 500 small and medium-sized train stations. All travel-relevant railway information on schedules and interruptions is displayed interactively and in real time on the screens.
The costs amount to about 50 million francs, as SBB announced on Wednesday. In addition to hardware acquisition, they also include interactive cost development, as well as construction and assembly costs.
In the future, the displays will replace customer information that is now available in print at the train station, such as the yellow exit sign, train replacement, or route network plans.
The information on the new screens is presented interactively. Thanks to a touch screen function, additional detailed information such as wagon formation can be accessed. The most important customer information should be available without touching the screen. You must touch the screen to get more information.
Three test stations
The first of these interactive displays will be installed these days at the three test stations Suhr AG, Effretikon ZH and Düdingen FR, as announced by SBB on Wednesday. Throughout the year, a pilot test will be carried out in around 50 train stations in the three language regions.
From the beginning of 2021 to the end of 2022, a large number of small and medium-sized train stations will gradually be equipped with interactive displays. Across Switzerland, around 1000 devices will provide information at around 500 train stations.
According to SBB, the possibilities at these stations to provide customers with information relevant to the railways in real time, both acoustically and visually, have so far been more limited than at larger stations. These functions are particularly relevant for people with visual or hearing disabilities. (aeg / sda)
