How the EVZ fills the stadium in the Corona season and how it looks at other clubs

The new season of the National League begins in October. The clubs face a great challenge. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, clubs can only fill two-thirds of the seating capacity of their stadiums. On the one hand, this naturally translates into financial losses, because individual tickets or almost none can be sold and fewer fans are consumed in the stadium.

Capacity of National League clubs in the Corona season:

On the other hand, clubs now also have to do a lot in terms of organization. Because there are teams that have already sold more season tickets than can allow spectators to enter the stadium as of October. In order for all subscribers to regularly enjoy live ice hockey, the club’s leaders must now find solutions.

EV Zug was the first team to publicly present how it will handle it. Central Switzerland has sold more than 5,900 tickets, but the Bossard Arena will only have space for 3,800 people with the measures that will be applied from October.

Therefore, the EVZ divides the game plan. There is a “blue” game board and a “white” game board. It was taken into account that each opposing team can be seen once on both game boards. The teams you play against three times at home (Ambri, Langnau, Bern, Zurich) were also divided fairly. At the same time, the club ensured that there was a uniform division even after weekdays. For example, the blue group can go to the stadium five times on Friday and four on Saturday, while the white group has six games on Friday and three on Saturday. In total, each group can watch 13 qualifying matches at home.

Holders of season tickets can now, also in groups, register in one of the two schedules using the form. Places in both groups will be allocated according to the principle of “first come, first serve”. Around 600 spots are reserved for sponsors and partners for each game. Zug will not be able to sell individual tickets this season.

The implementation of the EVZ can now serve the twelve other clubs in the National League as an idea of how season ticket holders can be allowed into the stadium during this special season. A look at the clubs where you can already estimate how the situation will be during the Corona season.

ZSC Lions

Crown capacity: 7500

Subscriptions sold: so far 7,000

The ZSC Lions are in the most comfortable position of any club in the National League. Because, for once, the otherwise not always popular indoor stadium will be a blessing. There is no room to stand there. This is the reason why the ZSC can allow about 7,500 fans to enter the stadium.

At Watson’s request, the Zurich-based company announced that around 7,000 tickets have been sold to date. Sales are still ongoing at this time. So it seems that ZSC fans with a season ticket can be a part of every home game, even in Corona times.

SC Bern

Crown capacity: 6500

Subscriptions sold: 10,500

Like Zug, the SCB has sold more season tickets than crown-related seats at the stadium. Sales stopped at 10,500 fertilizers. Thus, a system similar to that of Central Switzerland could come into effect, which would mean that SCB fans can watch around half of the home games in the stadium, maybe a little more.

SC Bern has to accept the biggest loss of viewers. Like here, the seats must be installed on the standing ramp before the 2009 World Cup. Photo: trapezoidal

Which is already certain: in Bern, fans can gather in groups of up to ten people who can then sit close to each other.

Friborg-Gottéron

Crown capacity: 5000

Subscriptions sold: more than 6000

Thanks to the completely renovated stadium, which normally has space for up to 9,000 spectators, Freiburg is relatively well positioned for the Corona season. However, at BCF Arena 2.0 you have to expect a loss of spectators. According to information from the “Tages-Anzeiger”, there will be space for around 5000 people from October.

According to President Hubert Waeber, the “dragons” have already sold more than 6,000 fertilizers. There are also places for sponsors and other sponsors. So it will be difficult for Gottéron fans with season tickets to watch every game at home live. However, a little more than half should be possible with the right organization.

EHC Biel

Crown capacity: 3600

Fertilizers sold: unknown

It is not known how many season tickets EHC Biel has sold so far. But the club promises that all fans who have a seat subscription are guaranteed to be able to watch every home game at the stadium. The following variants are available to fans with standing room subscriptions:

  • The permanent subscription will become a free seat subscription. According to the club, all home games should also be attended. Fans cannot choose the venue themselves, but they receive one from the club.
  • Fans can transfer the permanent subscription to the 2021/22 season.
  • Fans can dispense with the permanent subscription and get their money back.

HC Davos

Crown capacity: 3500

Fertilizers sold: unknown

HC Davos will play their first home game on the newly renovated ice rink on October 17, some two and a half weeks after the start of the season. According to initial reports, season ticket holders at HCD can be in the stadium for all home games. The seating subscriptions are said to have been sold around the year 2000. The standing room subscriptions, which can be converted to seating subscriptions for an additional fee, are still pending evaluation.

But the fact that HCD continued to sell season tickets even after the Federal Council’s decision, and that club president Marc Gianola hopes to be able to sell individual tickets during the season, suggests that all season ticket holders in Davos They will play all the games in You can see the stadium.

HC Lugano

Crown capacity: 3300

Fertilizers sold: unknown

HC Lugano has not yet announced how many tickets have been sold so far. At the end of August the campaign to renew seasonal subscriptions was stopped. All the fertilizers that had not been sold until then went on sale. CEO Marco Werder said: “Our goal is that our loyal fans can watch as many home games as possible in the stadium.”

SCL Tigers

Crown capacity: 2700

Subscriptions sold: 3600

The SCL Tigers stopped selling season tickets immediately after the Federal Council confirmed the two-thirds limit. However, the Emmentaler has already sold 3,600 subscriptions. If you take the Zug model as your model, it would probably mean that season ticket holders with the Tigers can watch about two-thirds of all regular season games at the stadium. The club wants to report on the exact procedure in the next few days.

The “Vermin case” and the question of whether Lausanne is really too stupid to become a champion

Joël Vermin is one of the best players in the league. But Lausanne doesn’t want him anymore and still won’t let him go. The great Zampano Petr Svoboda plays his games and benefits from the fear of competition.

Joël Vermin (28) has known since mid-July that he is no longer wanted in Lausanne. But it is still in Lausanne.
