After the sexual assault on a twelve-year-old schoolgirl, the Thurgau canton police arrested a suspect on Thursday night in Guntershausen, near Aadorf.
(hood / right / rsc) Astrid Keller is a popular woman on Thursday. The president of the Aadorfer school has to answer several questions from the media about an incident at the Guntershausen school. There, in the school building, a 12-year-old schoolgirl was sexually assaulted by a stranger during recess, shortly before 10 am, according to Thurgau canton police. “He touched her,” says Matthias Graf, media spokesman for the canton police.
When the girl screamed for help, the man fled. The student was not physically injured. Astrid Keller reports:
“A teacher was able to follow the man a little further.”
However, he was unable to provide further information on the course of events. “I’m sorry something like this could happen,” says Keller. The only positive about the incident is that the student “fought very well.”
“Now we want to teach all students how they can defend themselves in such situations,” says Keller, naming a measure that has already been defined. Guntershauser schoolchildren were able to deliver an information letter about the incident to their parents at noon.
It is now up to the Aadorf school community to clarify how such an incident could be prevented in the future, Keller says. “For us, the safety of our students is our highest priority.” The incident did not have a major impact on school operations, Keller explains:
“In Guntershausen there is no school on Thursday afternoons anyway.”
They want to continue with the lessons on Friday as usual so that normalcy returns as soon as possible.
Suspect arrested
Investigations and manhunters carried out by the Thurgau canton police, as well as information from the population, led to the arrest of an urgently suspected man shortly before 4 pm. The 30-year-old Swiss from the region was arrested, the Thurgau canton police write in a message. The Frauenfeld prosecutor is conducting a criminal investigation. The investigation has not yet been completed.
