The veterinary office of the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden has authorized pet ownership for animal welfare reasons. 22 animals were housed in a suitable place.
(pd / rms) The veterinary office applied a partial animal husbandry and keeping ban against a dog owner in Ausserrhoder Vorderland on Monday. It refused to the last to implement the ban upheld by the Federal Supreme Court and to reduce its animal population to the number of animals that are still allowed. It was left unused for a period of several months. This was announced by the cantonal office of Appenzell Ausserrhoden.
After a brief veterinary examination, the animal handlers removed 22 dogs and placed them in suitable locations. With the exception of a small number of dogs that the pet owner may have, all dogs will be released to a new location. A total of 15 employees of the veterinary office, veterinarians, animal handlers and employees of the cantonal police were on duty.
Due to official secrecy and taking into account the protection of data and personnel, the veterinary office does not comment on the precise circumstances, as indicated in the notification.
