One hand on the steering wheel and the other on the mobile phone. A Flixbus driver drives from Darmstadt (D) to Zurich on Saturday. But the offense does not go unnoticed. A BLICK reader captures everything in photos and videos.
Over and over again, the man picks up the cell phone, the reader reports. The bus is speeding on the highway. “That is shocking,” says the reader. What exactly the man was doing besides driving was not apparent from a distance.
Despite everything, the journey ends well: the passengers arrive safely in Zurich shortly before 10 pm. It is still forbidden to write and read SMS while driving, regardless of whether you are in Germany or Switzerland. Penalties range from fines to revocation of the driver’s license and imprisonment.
Flixbus investigates incident
When asked, Flixbus said they were following the advice and had initiated internal investigations.
As early as 2018, a BLICK reader and his co-pilot watched a Flixbus driver make himself comfortable while driving – driving down the motorway near Winterthur with his legs raised and his cell phone in hand. (szm)
