444 new coronavirus infections on Sunday

On Friday and Saturday, with 405 and 425 new infections, respectively, the mark of 400 cases per day was exceeded for the first time since mid-April. There were 364 confirmed cases on Thursday, 370 on Wednesday, 216 on Tuesday and 163 last Monday.

There have been a total of 44,401 laboratory-confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic, as the Federal Office of Public Health (BAG) announced on Sunday. Compared to the previous day, there were five more hospitalizations. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,595 people have had to be treated in hospital for Covid 19 disease.

1733 total deaths

Another death was reported. The death toll in connection with a Covid 19 disease rose to 1,733.

So far, 1,098,540 tests have been performed for Sars-CoV-2, the causative agent of the respiratory disease Covid-19, in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. In one day, 12,608 new tests were reported to the BAG.

Due to contact tracing, there were 1,641 people in isolation and 4,924 people in quarantine as of Saturday, according to the BAG. In addition, there were 7,559 people in quarantine who had returned from a country at risk.
