Spectacular escape in Olten SW – motorist evades police control

On the night of Friday to Saturday, a car driver in Olten evaded a police checkpoint. While on the run from police, he damaged three cars and a barrier at a construction site. The driver was eventually detained and provisionally arrested for further clarification.

On Saturday 5 September 2020, shortly after 12:45 am, a car driver eluded a police checkpoint at Rötzmattweg in Olten and fled in the direction of Wangen near Olten. There he turned around and drove back to Olten, where they could stop him. While fleeing police, the 44-year-old Swiss damaged two parked cars, an oncoming taxi and a barrier at a construction site. After being arrested, it became clear that the motorist did not have a driver’s license of the corresponding category and that he was allegedly driving the car under the influence of drugs. He was provisionally arrested for further investigation.
