Early Saturday morning, a woman and two men were victims of a robbery attempt or two robberies in Basel. This is announced by the Basel prosecutor’s office.

Previous investigations by the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office showed that in the first case, around 5:00 am, a 54-year-old man was attacked by an unknown person near the barracks and thrown to the ground. The perpetrator stole the 54-year-old man’s wallet and fled in an unknown direction. The victim filed a complaint that morning.

Two more raids

In the second case, around 6:00 am, bystanders alerted the police that a man had assaulted a woman in Unteren Rebgasse, threw her to the ground and tried to rob her. Passersby rushed to help the woman and were able to contain the perpetrator, making the message. However, he managed to break free and flee. The victim, who was possibly injured and shocked, left the scene before the police arrived.

A little later, around 6:10 a.m., a stranger approached a 27-year-old man asking for money at the Klybeckstrasse / Klingentalgraben junction, police say. Suddenly he was attacked by this and also knocked down to the ground. The victim was hit and kicked. The perpetrator stole the wallet and fled in an unknown direction.

15 years arrested

As part of an immediate persecution, the police were able to arrest the alleged perpetrator, a 15-year-old Kosovar, shortly thereafter. “He is strongly suspected of having committed all three crimes,” authorities said.

The woman who was assaulted in the first case has not yet been affected. The prosecution urges you to report to the nearest police station.

In addition, persons who can provide relevant information should contact the Basel-Stadt children’s lawyer or the nearest police station.
