League A, Group 1: Netherlands win thanks to Bergwijn
In the first match after Bondscoach Ronald Koeman’s departure to Barcelona, the Netherlands arrived in Amsterdam to kick off the Nations League campaign with a 1-0 victory over Poland. Steven Bergwijn scored the decisive goal for interim manager Dwight Lodeweges’ team after one hour. Robert Lewandowski, who was given a break after winning the Champions League with Bayern, was absent from Poland.
Italy had to be content with a 1-1 draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina in Florence. For the first time since November 17, 2018 and 11 wins in a row, “Azzurri” again lost points. Stefano Sensi’s 1-1 draw was also happy, as his shot was decisively deflected. Edin Dzeko had put the Bosnians in the lead.
League B, Group 1: Haaland’s debut does not prevent defeat
Dortmund’s jewel in the storm, Erling Haaland, could no longer pull the coal out of the fire for his Norwegians. He only managed the connecting goal in Oslo against Austria in the 66th minute. Hard to believe: it was his debut on goal in the third appearance in the Norwegian suit. The guests took the lead in the 35th minute through Michael Gregoritsch. Marcel Sabitzer rose to 2-0 about ten minutes after the break, with a penalty.
In the second group game, Northern Ireland and Romania were separated 1: 1.

In Bratislava, the Czech Republic achieved a safe 3-1 victory against Slovakia. All the goals came in the second half. Vladimir Coufal, Borek Dockal on a penalty and Michael Krmencik scored for the guests, Ivan Schranz’s goal in the 88th minute was only cosmetic.
In the duel between Scotland and Israel there was a fair division of points. Ryan Christie’s penalty goal tied Eran Zahavi for Israel on the pass from former generals forward Munas Dabbur 15 minutes before the end to make it 1-1. Dabbur had previously announced double bad luck in one scene:
