In the fight against so-called self-impostors, the Solothurn canton police have seized a total of 65 vehicles since the beginning of the year. More than 160 drivers were reported for making unnecessary noise or for having modified their vehicles.

In 90 cases, the suspects made unnecessary noise when revving the engine or driving at high revs in low gears, the Solothurn canton police announced on Friday. 75 criminal charges were issued for driving non-compliant vehicles.

Most of the time, according to police information, the exhaust system or the engine control had been modified or the vehicles had structural modifications. The 65 seized vehicles were brought in for a motor vehicle inspection.

The canton police have received more and more complaints about deliberately caused car noise in recent years. The auto-innkeepers make their rounds especially in cities and agglomerations.

In order to take better measures against the phenomenon, the police were specifically trained in all regions last year. The police bought special measuring devices that year in order to determine the sound level. (aeg / sda)
