The canton of St. Gallen police speak of a “new crime league”.
Shortly before 9 am, the cantonal emergency call center received a report of a robbery on Bahnhofstrasse, as the St. Gallen canton police wrote. When the police arrived, the armed perpetrators had already disappeared. No one was hurt.
The two alleged perpetrators posed as policemen. They wore black clothes with the words “Police” written on them. They also wore black helmets, ski masks, and combat boots. They also had a red bag with a white Swiss cross.
The perpetrators, who are said to have spoken poor German, fled with cash for a previously unknown amount. The getaway car was fitted with false license plates.
“The thieves proceeded in a very professional manner and with great effort,” said police spokesman Hanspeter Krüsi when asked by the Keystone-SDA news agency. Never has the canton of St. Gallen been so bold in the event of a robbery. “The perpetrators even copied a license plate from a patrol car belonging to the canton of St. Gallen police,” Krüsi said.
