A major intercantonal chase is underway and key points in the area have been occupied, such as motorway exits. As Hanspeter Krüsi, media spokesman for the St. Gallen cantonal police, also announced when asked, the police are assessing the first leads they have received about the perpetrators.

On the procedure of the two fugitives, Krüsi says:

“We have never experienced something like this in the canton of San Galo with such audacity and professionalism.”

The two suspects were very professional and disguised themselves as policemen. They copied the equipment from the intervention units, Krüsi said. The two wore black clothes with the words “Police” written on them. They also wore black helmets, ski masks, and combat boots, and each was armed with a pistol. The bank robbery lasted only a few minutes and during the robbery no one was at the branch apart from the employees, says media spokesman Krüsi. Cash was stolen in a previously unknown amount.

Perpetrators with fake license plates on the move

The perpetrators were between 175 and 180 cm tall and had a red bag with a white Swiss cross. There were no injuries. The perpetrators spoke bad German. The getaway car could be an older blue Skoda Octavia. The perpetrators came away with fake St. Gallen license plates, which they copied from a license plate from a St. Gallen canton police patrol car.

Police are looking for witnesses

Krüsi continues with the perpetrators:

The suspects are sparing no effort. You are determined and dangerous. “

Individuals who can provide information on the course of events, the getaway car, or the two suspects are asked to report to the St. Gallen Canton Police at 058-229-49-49.
