On Wednesday, SP federal adviser Alain Berset (48) gave Belgians hope: the kingdom should soon disappear from the Swiss quarantine list, he said.
And Belgium also sees Switzerland in the best Corona light again: while 16 cantons were still on its risk list Wednesday night, three cantons have made the leap again. The green light is again valid for trips to the cantons of Lucerne, Schaffhausen and Thurgau.
However, for 13 cantons, the orange warning level still applies: Appenzell-Ausserrhoden, Basel-Stadt, Friborg, Geneva, Glarus, Neuchâtel, Schwyz, Solothurn, Uri, Waadt, Wallis, Zug and Zurich.
For this, “increased vigilance” is applied: a quarantine or crown test is recommended on return, but they are not mandatory.
Up and down since July
For weeks, the Belgians have been pushing local cantons back and forth on their own risk list. If more and more cantons landed on the warning list in recent weeks, Belgians are more relaxed about the situation.
The ups and downs on the Belgian Crown’s list began in July: At that time, the Brussels authorities put the French-speaking cantons of Geneva, Vaud and Valais on the red list and banned non-mandatory stays in the Lake Geneva region. FDP Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis (59) then intervened in Brussels, after which Vaud and Valais were removed from the list. In the meantime, however, the two cantons have reappeared on the orange list.
