The Ebikon community reported incorrect data to Lustat Statistics Lucerne in this year’s vacancy count. The vacancy rate in the canton of Lucerne has thus been reduced to 1.53 per cent.
(pjm) The Federal Statistical Office conducts an annual federal census of vacant apartments. For this, the municipalities must inform the number of vacant departments to the respective canton. The Municipality of Ebikon now had to discover that due to the lack of integrity of the municipality’s own data, incorrect information was transmitted to Lustat Statistics Lucerne, according to a message. According to figures released in June, Ebikon Township recorded one of the strongest increases in its unemployment rate.
As Lustat reported, the June 1 figures have now been corrected. Instead of 406, which would be 6.35 percent of all apartments, there are only 147 vacant apartments in Ebikon, which is 2.33 percent of all apartments.
This change also has an impact on the cantonal data. The rate falls from 1.66 to 1.53 percent. This development could be interesting for the popular initiative of the rental association, which will be voted on on September 27. The referendum requires that if the cantonal vacancy rate is less than 1.5 percent, the landlord must inform the tenant of his predecessor’s rent.
