California police officer shoots black bikers
During a police check in Los Angeles, California, an officer shot a black bicyclist with a gun. After the man was taken into custody for an inspection, he struck one of the officers in the face, the Los Angeles sheriff’s office said.
He then dropped a bundle of clothing on which a “black semi-automatic pistol could be seen,” spokesman Brandon Dean told reporters on Monday (local time). Then an officer fired several shots.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. At first it was not clear why exactly the police had detained the man. The incident is now being investigated, police said. According to local media reports, there were isolated protests against police violence due to the incident on Tuesday night.
Since the assassination of unarmed African-American George Floyd in a brutal police operation in the city of Minneapolis in late May, a heated debate has developed about racism and police violence in the United States, leading to protests as well.
Just ten days ago, police shot a black man in the back multiple times in the city of Kenosha, Wisconsin. The case of Jacob Blake, who survived seriously injured, sparked new protests. (sda / dpa)
