The Aeschstrasse will be widened between Ettingen and Aesch to do justice to the volume of traffic and traffic safety. A new traffic island is also being built. This will slow down the traffic coming into Ettingen. Parallel to these renovations and renovations, the embankments on the north side of the road and the safety ditch on the south side of the road will be adapted.

As Baselland’s building and environmental protection department wrote in a message on Monday, the renovation works affect the Aeschstrasse between Baselstrasse and GSA Schürfeld. The work takes a total of 18 months and only one lane can be used by motorized traffic during the entire construction phase. The direction of travel will change at 12 noon and midnight, according to the message.

In the morning to Aesch, in the afternoon to Ettingen

Aeschstrasse can be used from Ettingen in the direction of Aesch from midnight to noon. During this period, oncoming traffic will be diverted from Aesch through Reinach and Therwil. The Aesch road in the direction of Ettingen is passable from 12 noon to midnight. Oncoming traffic will also be diverted through Therwil or Reinach. A digital traffic system displays the currently permitted direction of travel.

Unaffected cyclists and pedestrians

In addition, the passage in the opposite direction is regulated with a traffic light so that bus line 68 can continue to operate regularly. The cantonal cycle route between Aesch and Ettingen is also not restricted. According to the notification, anyone traveling by bicycle can go directly from Aesch to Ettingen and vice versa.

However, cycling along the Aeschstrasse is prohibited: in Ettingen, cyclists head to the cycle route via Baselstrasse or Fürstensteinstrasse. We recommend that people who go on foot use the streets of the neighborhood.

Preparatory work will begin on September 7, 2020, as it depends on the weather. However, this work does not affect traffic in any way. The traffic regime “one-way regime with time-dependent change of direction of travel” begins on Monday, September 28, 2020.
