They pushed the barriers aside and left. An enraged mob tried to take over the Reichstag in Berlin. A savage mix of ignorant Crown, vaccine opponents, neo-Nazis and Reich citizens. Everyone is fed up with the government and expressed their anger on Saturday. Around 400 people gathered at night to storm the Reichstag.
The timing was favorable. Just a few emergency services and a few barriers, apparently an easy game for the mobbing group. They reached the front doors of the government building. There, three brave policemen confronted the mob. Videos circulating on social media show how officials defend the Reichstag.
They kept the mafia at bay
“Back! Back!” Shouts over and over again a policeman with a baton in hand at the crowd, who yell wildly at each other, thus keeping the horde under control. His two colleagues will not let pass either. No one. Mood heats up. “We are the people,” some shout, others loudly, “resistance.” Then finally the support comes in. Together with other police officers, they are pushing back the mafia.
Reichstag officials belong to the Berlin police. You are the Platoon Leader of the Fifth Centennial of Alarms, as reported by “Bild.” “The three of them are normal section workers in everyday life,” one of their colleagues told the German newspaper. For their courageous commitment, they were invited to a meeting by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (64). Some politicians are now calling for a Federal Cross of Merit for the brave trio.
“We cannot always be present everywhere”
It is still unclear why the Berlin police, who led 3,000 officials from different federal states throughout the day, were so embarrassingly surprised and invaded just before the Reichstag. The president and host of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Schäuble (77), calls for a swift reassessment.
Police spokesman Thilo Cablitz said on Saturday after the near-assault on the Reichstag: “We cannot always be present everywhere, it is precisely this gap that was used to cross the barriers here, to break through.”
Inland Senator Geisel didn’t even get into the serious mishap. It is confirmed because he warned against demonstrations by right-wing extremists. The police had “quickly finished with this ghost,” he explains later. (jmh / SDA)
