Excitement on Monday morning in the center of Zurich. It is around 8:15 am when Ueli T. * (35) heard a police siren on Werdstrasse and looked out the window. “I saw a police officer chasing an Audi from Aargau on a motorcycle,” the 35-year-old told BLICK. The driver tried to escape. “The policeman tried to stop the car. It crashed almost twice before the officer got to the Audi on his motorcycle. “
The police officer then got out of his vehicle, drew his gun and shouted: “If I say stop, then it means stop too!” “The driver got out, apparently cooperating. The police officer handcuffs the Audi driver. The situation seems clear. But suddenly the man runs away!
Agile flees. “The cop just couldn’t keep up with him. He was wearing his motorcycle gear, ”says Julia T. * (34), another resident, to SEE. The officer has to call for reinforcements. About 20 minutes pass. Only then is a van added. The search for the refugee begins and ends in just under three hours. “The man has turned himself in to the police”, as announced by the Zurich city police at BLICK’s request. It was an ordinary traffic control.
“I’ve been sleeping in the car for a week!”
While the area was being searched for the handcuffed Audi driver, a second van had to be requested. Because the man was not sitting alone in the Audi. “Now they took a girl and a husky in the second police car,” says the resident.
Julia T. does not know why the man escaped in handcuffs. Perhaps an act of desperation. “The neighbors told me that the man should have shouted: ‘I can’t take it anymore. I’ve been sleeping in the car for a week, ›says the 34-year-old. (jmh / sac)
