The contract for the acquisition of the majority of the shares is in force. As announced by Mediday, the subsidiary of Migros, the dental practice chain Zahnarztzentrum.ch is now part of the orange giant’s health offering.
So far, Medbase, which also includes Topwell’s pharmacies, has had no basic dental care in its portfolio. “We see dentistry as part of integrated care, and therefore as a useful addition to our existing portfolio,” says Marcel Napierala, CEO of Medbase Group.
Focus on dental hygiene.
The area of dental hygiene is particularly promising. Zahnarztzentrum.ch with more than 700 employees covers the entire spectrum of dentistry and therefore complements Medbase’s existing business areas: medicine, therapy and pharmacy.
Migros assures that it will maintain the 34 locations of the chain in Switzerland. Around 300 dentists and orthodontic, implant and dental hygiene specialists work there. How much migration leaves on the table to take dental centers remains a secret.
The blessing of Weko’s competition managers for the announced deal is still pending. (aurochs)
