Swiss will partially restart flight operations in June. It plans to operate up to 190 flights to 41 European destinations from Zurich and Geneva. The structure is staggered, the offer increases gradually over the weeks, as announced by the airline.
It will also fly to destinations in the Mediterranean region such as Malaga, Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia in Spain or Brindisi, Florence, Naples and Rome in Italy. The connection to Scandinavia will also be strengthened with flights to Gothenburg in Sweden and Copenhagen in Denmark.
Again long term
Switzerland will also include important European centers in its program, such as Paris, Brussels and Moscow. Existing connections to Amsterdam, Athens, Berlin, Lisbon, London, Porto and Stockholm will be expanded.
And in the long term? The airline plans to offer flights from Zurich to New York JFK, Chicago, Singapore, Bangkok, Tokyo, Mumbai, Hong Kong and Johannesburg. Swiss World Cargo, the Swiss division of air cargo, will carry additional cargo on these flights to support global supply chains.
The Lufthansa subsidiary plans to expand its offering in the summer months.
Only 5 percent of the flight offer
Swiss had to close its operations in late March. 24 planes were parked at Dübendorf ZH airport, among others. Seven other machines including in Jordan.
