Sainz is the successor to Vettel at Ferrari

Carlos Sainz 25 years old or Daniel Ricciardo 30 years old? At Ferrari, they had maintained the number of candidates as future teammates of Charles Leclerc of Monaco. It makes sense that the choice falls on Sainz, who currently works for McLaren. Instead of Ricciardo, the Madrid player guarantees that the team will be calm again after the disputes and the trench warfare that have increased in the last season. The willingness to return one’s own interests for the benefit of the team or serve the Leclerc leader should be more pronounced with Sainz than with the Australian.

However, Ferrari officials will be careful not to officially chisel the hierarchy between the two drivers into stone. Especially in the first phase of the World Cup, they will also grant Sainz, who has been hired for two seasons, “free trips” and offer him the possibility of parole. The Spaniard demonstrated his talent ahead of time last season, which finished sixth overall thanks to a consistently strong performance behind his predecessor Vettel.

“He showed that he has the technical skills and qualities to adapt perfectly to our family,” Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto said of Sainz. The Italian went on to say that a new cycle had started at Ferrari. With Leclerc and Sainz, Ferrari’s youngest driver duo in the past 50 years, the goals are better accomplished.

Fourth employer in Formula 1

For Sainz, Ferrari will already be the fourth employer in Formula 1. The son of the two-time world rally champion of the same name made his debut in the service of Toro Rosso five years ago. After three seasons in the beverage maker Red Bull’s second team, he switched to Renault and after just one year with the French to McLaren. The previous summer he had signed a contract for the British racing stable that lasted for several years.

McLaren again found what he was looking for in Sainz’s successor at Renault. Ricciardo, who was cut to the Ferrari job by the Spaniard, signed a contract that was valid for several years and next year he would be a teammate of 20-year-old Englishman Lando Norris. “Daniel has proven to be a winner of the race. His experience, commitment and energy will be a valuable addition to McLaren and our mission to return to the top of the field, “said McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl. Vettel was also considered a candidate for the booth at McLaren.

Ricciardo has won seven Grand Prix so far, the last time in Monaco in 2018. He has been driving for Renault since last year, but has not yet had a win with the French and will be leaving after two years. “My next chapter hasn’t started yet, so let’s get this over with,” Ricciardo tweeted.
