Gerwyn Price wins the Darts World Cup final in London against Gary Anderson and is the new world No. 1.
The PDC World Darts Championship has a new winner: Gerwyn “Iceman” Price won the final of the 28th edition. At London’s “Ally Pally” he beat two-time world champion Gary Anderson 7: 3.
Price had made the preliminary decision early and posted a 1: 1 score in the sets with an intermediate sprint at 5: 1. But then the duel was exciting again: in the ninth round, the former rugby player showed nervousness for the first time. and gave away 9 (!) Spectacular finish
The drama reached its climax in the 10th set: Price fell 2-0 behind, Anderson missed the darts and Price was able to equalize again. In the decisive stage, the 35-year-old gave away two more darts before closing the bag.
Thanks to the world championship title, the Welshman replaces Dutchman Michael van Gerwen as world number 1 after 7 years.
