A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck the main Philippine island of Luzon and its capital Manila on Christmas Day. However, according to authorities, there were initially no reports of possible damage.
According to the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the center of the earthquake was near the city of Calatagan in Batandas province, just under 93 kilometers south of Manila. “This earthquake will not generate a tsunami,” said the institute’s director, Renato Solidum, at the DZMM station.
