New year New luck? Not so in SC Bern. The “Mutzen” came off the ice as an underdog in their first game in 2021. At 1: 7 in Lausanne, SCB even suffered the biggest loss of the current season. More than 4 years ago, the Bernese lost 8-1 to Kloten.
Bern’s hopes for a sense of accomplishment suffered a first setback early on. In the third minute, Lausanne scored a double strike in 14 seconds from defender pair Fabian Heldner / Lukas Frick.
Former Bernese Conacher strikes twice
The change of goalkeeper after the first third break when the score was 1: 3 did not bring any improvement from Bern’s point of view. Substitute Philip Wüthrich was undefeated for around 8 minutes before Ronalds Kenins made it 4-1. For Kenins it was the first goal after 16 goalless games.
Double scorer Cory Conacher (33rd / 44th) and Lausanne top scorer Denis Malgin (46th) provided the other goals.
